Back On the Blog

Back On the Blog

We got behind when we started the sugar beet harvest in North Dakota. We already run 1-2 weeks behind current time when we get blogs posted. During the Sugar Beet harvest we were working 12+ hour days, so we obviously had no time to blog. Besides, the main reason for our adventure, is to have fun and to see the country. We have been doing plenty of that, so it will take a while for us to get caught up.

International Wolf Center and the North American Bear Center

International Wolf Center and the North American Bear Center

The International Wolf Center is run by the MN DNR. It is a great experience and you can learn a lot about the reestablishment of wolves in North America. They have four “Ambassador” wolves in their Exhibit Pack and one retired wolf at this time; Boltz, Denali, Grayson, and Axel.
The Bear Center currently has 4 bears at the center; Ted, Holly, Tasha, and Lucky. There is a large wall of windows where you can watch the bears interact in their natural environment. We got to go on a behind the scenes tour and see an ambassador bear up close and personal.

Arrow Head RV Resort, Ely, MN

Arrow Head RV Resort, Ely, MN

Arrow Head RV Resort, Ely, MN a small campground right in Ely, MN. It’s a very basic RV campground, but I would not call it an RV resort. We had water, sewer, 50 amp electric, and WiFi. The WiFi reception was good and seemed to have pretty decent speeds, although I never did run a speed test. AT&T service worked very well, but Verizon was spotty at best in the area. In spite of some negative reviews, we got along fine with the campground manager.

A Great Week With Friends In Ely, MN

A Great Week With Friends In Ely, MN

We had a great week with friends in Ely, MN.

Family in the Twin Cities, MN

Family in the Twin Cities, MN

As we were planning our trip up north, we planned to spend a few days visiting family in the Twin Cities, MN. Sherry’s niece Amanda and her family live in a suburb called Woodbury. Unfortunately, due to the Corona Virus, everyone is out camping and we could not find a campground nearby that we could stay at for a few days. We only spent one night boon-docking in a Camping World parking lot in Lakeville, MN. We can not believe…

Potosi Brewery, Restaurant, and ABA National Brewery Museum

Potosi Brewery, Restaurant, and ABA National Brewery Museum

Today our adventure took us to Potosi, WI where we visited the Potosi Brewery, Restaurant, and ABA National Brewery Museum. First, since it was mid-afternoon, we had lunch at the restaurant. Unfortunately because of the Corona Virus, brewery tours were not available at the time we were there. However, we did get to go on the self-guided tour of the ABA National Brewery Museum. Sherry’s grandfather was a long time bar owner and for several years I have collected and…

On the Road Again, FINALLY!

On the Road Again, FINALLY!

We are On the Road Again, FINALLY! It took us 6 months of selling, throwing away, giving away, and donating all the junk we had accumulated in the last 23 years that we have lived in our home. We had to sell everything one piece at a time since we could not have an auction as we planned because of Covid19. After the delay from selling nearly everything ourselves, we were nearly ready to list the house. Then in late…

Kayaks For Our Adventure

Kayaks For Our Adventure

We got the PDL or pedal drive kayaks because I have tried to fish with a paddle in my had and I didn’t like it. It is much easier to fish when you have both hands free. And if it is windy or there is current, you have to be constantly paddling without the pedal drives.
