Rainy Lake and International Falls, MN

After our Ely MN adventures, we stayed at The Lakeview On Rainy Lake and International Falls, MN. It is a wonderful little campground, with an emphasis on LITTLE! They have 4 cabins and about 4 spots for campers. We had no problem getting our 43′ 5th wheel and truck in.

Minnesota state bird. I know it’s not really a mosquito, but it is still intimidating.
A beautiful bald eagle on a tree right outside our RV.
Signs on the Rainy River / Rainy Lake hiking trail.
Nice northern.

The manager of the campground was a super nice lady. She told us all about the area, where to go and what to do. When she found out I love to fish, she set me up with her son who took me Walleye fishing. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse and the walleye fishing was not good. They were catching limits the week before, but the day we went I caught one small walleye and he caught one nice northern.

Our campsite was not water front, but we did have use of the docks. We put our kayaks in on the day we got there and didn’t have to pull them out until we left. It was so windy most of the time, we only took the kayaks out for longer floats 2 times. We did sit out by the docks to eat and enjoy the beautiful views a few times. The land you can see right across the water is Canada. We could see it, but we couldn’t go there because of Covid 19.

We saw this while walking in town. It is a very unique and creative way to decorate a stump in the yard.
Sherry finally found her mountain man.

International falls is home of the worlds largest pulpwood yard. In the pictures you see piles and piles of pulpwood logs. The logs are shredded and then sent to the papermill in town through tubes.

Even Smokey Bear has to wear a mask during Covid! We spent a couple of weeks in the Rainy Lake and International Falls, MN area in late August.

Sorry, this blog was out of order. I thought I had posted it a long time ago, but I just noticed it was still a draft.
