THANK YOU, and quick update.

THANK YOU, and quick update.

First of all we want to say a huge thank you to all of our family, friends, coworkers, and customers who came to our retirement party. It really means a lot to know how many great people we have in our life.

Unfortunately we didn’t realize until the party was about 1/2 over that the sign in registry book got left in the van. So we don’t know how many people were there. We guesstimate there were between 125 and 150 people at one time or another.

We missed some of you.

We completely understand that many people couldn’t make it because of other obligations at this holiday time of year. We also had a few who didn’t make it because of the fog. We missed you, but it’s more important to us that you are safe!

Thanks for all the gifts.

About a week before the party my mom called and asked if we had a basket or wanted to use one of hers. I said what on Earth for? She said “for gifts of course.”

That is the first time I even thought about it. I said no, I don’t want gifts and I don’t want people to think that is why I’m having this party. I wish I had thought to add no gifts on the invites.

Well I was over ruled and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that gave us so many kind and thoughtful gifts. We really do thoroughly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.

The adventure begins!

This morning I woke up at 3:40. It was still puouring rain, so I tried to go back to sleep. We finally got up at 6:00 AM. We had a few last minute things to pack and hook up the trailer. We left Morton at 7:15 AM.

Let me tell you, it is so awesome to travel with your bed. I got tired and just before St Louis we stopped at a rest stop, crawled into bed and took a 45 minute nap. What a great difference it is to travel at our leisure instead of our usual “got get there now” pace. I think I’m gonna like this retirement thing.

We are here.

We stopped at about 3:30 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. We are spending the night “boondocking” in a Walmart parking lot. Tomorrow morning we continue on towards Canton Texas.

Pictures please!

If you have any good pictures from the party, please share them in comments below.
