Remember the Alamo
Today we did the tourist thing to do when you are in San Antonio, we got to Remember the Alamo and walk the San Antonio Riverwalk.

This blog post will be about the Alamo. Tomorrow I’ll try to get a blog about the Riverwalk.

We really enjoyed the Alamo. It is a very educational history lesson. One tip I want to give you if you plan to Remember the Alamo: It is FREE to tour.
Our neighbors in our campground told us they didn’t go through because they didn’t want to spend the $20 for the tour. You can go through for free, it only cost $20 if you want a tour with a guide.
You can also do am audio tour with a hand held devise that you listen to. This 45 minute audio tour cost $7
You can also do a self guided tour for free other than tips. We walked through at our own pace reading most of the plaques and sat and watched a video and we got done in about 1 1/2 hours.
However, we were there on a Thursday in January early in the afternoon, and it was not very crowded. It will probably take longer if you go at popular times when it’s more crowded.
I have no pictures of the inside of the Alamo church because they do not allow photography inside the church.
Alamo Memorial

Part of the Alamo tour is a memorial of those who gave their life fighting at the Alamo.

Seen in the picture below, holding his famous coonskin cap, Davy Crockett is one of the famous people on the memorial.

After today we can now do what Sam Houston told his troops and Remember the Alamo.

Cool I remember going there with Tim when the National youth gathering was there. I think that was about 36 years ago! I think I have been back there once. I think San Antonio is one of the most beautiful cities in the US.
I remember the trip too John. That was a great time! I didn’t remember the Alamo being right in downtown very close to the Riverwalk.
