The Shed Barbeque and Blues Joint

We boondocked at The Gulf Coast Gator Ranch and on a recommendation from the lady in the office, we went to The Shed Barbeque Joint for a late lunch. When we turned into the parking lot we just about turned back around. The place looked like a dump, literally a junk yard.

Then we saw there were several cars in the parking lot towards the back, so we thought we would go in and check it out. Both outside and the inside were very shabby. We missed the entrance to the restaurant because there so much going on outside we did not know where to go in.

A popular place

There was a line inside the door once we found the entrance. Just inside the door, there is a banner of all the TV shows this place has been a part of. Tim and I did not realize this place was that popular.

Accolades

In this establishment, you order at the counter and they bring your order to you. The menu is your typical barbeque fare. However, they just added breakfast. They also have local craft beer and domestic beer.

For seating, all they had were picnic tables and a few tables with a hodgepodge of chairs. Watch your step, because there floor is gravel and uneven.

The tables

There was a stage set up in the corner for a band.

It only took a few minutes for our food to arrive. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich with MommaMia’s Mac Salad and Chuck’s Potato Salad. As you can see we started eating before pictures were taken. It was really good. I really enjoyed the sides.

Tim ordered the Pulled Pork Plate with Good Ole Mac and Cheese and G – Maws Beans. He also agreed that the food was really good and it was worth making the trip. It is one of top BBQ joints we have ever eaten at.

Bar B Que station

There were several junk cars and trucks throughout the parking lot. We later found out from the lady at the alligator Ranch that this place had burned down a few years ago. So all of this was built to look like this on purpose. Many of the old cars and other junk were all donated by local people.

Seating by the river

If you ever find yourself in southern Mississippi, take the time to go eat at The shed. Don’t let the appearance influence you, you won’t be disappointed.
