Let’s Eat – Lake Charles, Louisianna

After Texas, we headed to Louisianna. Our first stop was in Lake Charles, Louisianna where we boondocked at a harvest host. We stayed at the Crying Eagle Brewing Company. Check out their website it is pretty cool. We went into the brewery’s Tap Room for a beer and dinner.

There is a Bistro located in the Tap Room of the brewery. Their menu had many Louisianna inspired dishes and as an appetizer, Tim tried Crawfish Etouffee a soup dish found in both cajun and creole cuisine, typically served with a shellfish over rice. I would not have liked it because Tim said it was spicy and tasted very fishy. He said it was OK, but not something he would order often.

Tim and I opted the try the wood-fired pizza. Tim ordered the Butcher Block pizza and I made my own pizza with a garlic cream base, chicken, onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella. The pizza was delicious. Plus there was plenty of pizza leftover to enjoy later. I did not try any of the beer but Tim tried the Louisianna Lager and really liked it. We even bought a mixed variety six-pack to bring home for Bret. We really enjoyed this harvest host and plan to many more in the future.

So if you ever find yourself in Lake Charles, Louisiana, stop into the Crying Eagle Brewing Company and enjoy their brew and a meal.
