We now have kayaks for our adventure. One of the hardest things I had to sell to get ready to travel full-time was my bass boat. I just couldn’t stand being without a boat to fish out of. So we know have kayaks.

We bought Old Town kayaks. I got a Sportsman BigWater 132 PDL and Sherry got a TopWater 106 PDL. Even though I can’t get her to fish, Sherry likes to come along in her kayak while I fish. Plus, I’m sure I’ll meet some fishing buddies as we travel who will like to come kayaking with me.

We got the PDL or pedal drive kayaks because I have tried to fish with a paddle in my had and I didn’t like it. It is much easier to fish when you have both hands free. And if it is windy or there is current, you have to be constantly paddling without the pedal drives.

A New Goal

One of our main goals as we travel is to spend some time in all 50 states. Now that I have the kayak, I have a secondary goal of trying to catch a fish in all 50 states. Sherry was OK with this because she knew I didn’t fish while we were in Hawaii and we’ll have to go back.

We have taken a few days off from downsizing to take the kayaks out for a trial run a few times. I have caught a few real nice bass and I can tell you they are a blast to fish out of.
