Itasca State Park, the Headwaters of the Mississippi River. We spent a day there hiking amongst the beautiful red pine forest and WALKING ACROSS THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER! They have a visitor center with all kinds of information and a scale model of the whole Mississippi River System.
We got the PDL or pedal drive kayaks because I have tried to fish with a paddle in my had and I didn’t like it. It is much easier to fish when you have both hands free. And if it is windy or there is current, you have to be constantly paddling without the pedal drives.
Speaking of the clubhouse, they also have a lot of organized activities; poker, potlucks, fish fries, pickleball, quilting, and bingo just to name a few. I played in one poker tournament, but other than that we were just too busy seeing the sights. Bayview RV Resort is in a great location for area attractions.
The first group of photos is of roosting Sandhill Cranes. They roost in trees right across the street from the bay. Apparently, they are there all the time because there is a sign and fence around the area to keep people away. But the birds are used to people, there was a group of cars parked and people taking pictures.
We spent a beautiful day at the beach, on Padre Island National Seashore yesterday…. Padre Island National Seashore is a national park. It is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world.
We stayed at the Texan RV Park, Austin, TX 1/6/2020 – 1/18/2020. We had a nice concrete pad and picnic table right out of our door at our campsite.
As I mentioned in our blog yesterday, we walked the San Antonio Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is a very beautiful two story walk along the Sam Antonio River. We were there on a Thursday afternoon in January, so it was not very crowded at all. The San Antonio Riverwalk has many restaurants and a few small craft and gift shops. When you close the doors, one or both of the cables would get caught between the door and the jam preventing the doors from being latched. So we needed to come up with a simple solution for toy-haler cables.
He’s a big boy and there are many bridges he can’t go under and roads he can’t travel because of weight.
