Kayaks For Our Adventure

Kayaks For Our Adventure

We got the PDL or pedal drive kayaks because I have tried to fish with a paddle in my had and I didn’t like it. It is much easier to fish when you have both hands free. And if it is windy or there is current, you have to be constantly paddling without the pedal drives.

Septic Tank Jokes

Septic Tank Jokes

I was bored and sick and tired of cleaning, packing, and selling stuff, getting ready to hit the road full time. So I spent the day decorating our blue boy, honey wagon, or portable waste tank with septic tank jokes.
For those of you who are not campers and don’t know: at some campsites, they don’t have sewer hookups at every campsite. Hopefully, they have a dump station nearby. So instead of packing everything up, hooking our trailer up to the truck and going to the dump station every 2 to 3 days, we dump our black and grey tanks into the portable waste tank. Then we pull it over to the dump station and dump it.
While it is a lot easier to have the sewer hookups at the campsite, if everything goes well, it’s not a nasty job at all. I’m just trying to put a little smile on other campers’ faces when we see them at the dumpsites.

Silver Slipper Casino RV Park Bay St Louis, MS

Silver Slipper Casino RV Park Bay St Louis, MS

From our campsite, we had an incredible view of Bay St Louis and the white Sand Beach right across the road. The casino is about 1/2 mile from the RV park and there is a very nice wide sidewalk between the road and the beach to walk on.

Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, LA

Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, LA

The flora and fauna in Fontainebleau State Park are abundant. I went on a late-night walk one night and saw a raccoon, and 30+ deer’s eyes reflecting in my light. We also saw an otter in Lake Pontchartrain and several alligators in the “alligator pond” right behind the kid’s water playground in the picture above. One of our neighbors saw a sounder of hogs.

New Homepage Map

New Homepage Map

I have added a new map to our homepage. In addition to our “States” map, we now have a “campgrounds visited” map. Now you can check out the RV parks, Harvest Hosts, and other places we’ve camped at if you happen to be looking for campgrounds in a certain area. It is an interactive map, if you click on the pin’s, it will tell you more about that location.

Boondocking at Bass Pro Shops, Denham Springs, LA

Boondocking at Bass Pro Shops, Denham Springs, LA

We spent 2 nights boondocking at Bass Pro Shops in Denham Springs, Louisiana. It’s a beautiful Bass Pro Shops and all the people working there were very nice. They have a nice lake between highway 12 and the Bass Pro Shops that they test boat motors in.

Poche’s Rv Park & Fish-N-Camp, Breaux Bridge, LA

Poche’s Rv Park & Fish-N-Camp, Breaux Bridge, LA

As my friends and family know, I love to fish. While we were at Poche’s RV Park & Fish-N-Camp we had a pond about 10 yards from our back deck, a pond about 50 yards out the front of our RV, and a pond about 30 yards from the side of our RV. In total there are 5 ponds at Poche’s. They are stocked with bass, bream, sac-a-lait, and catfish. For my friends and family from IL, bream = bluegill, sac-a-lait = crappie.

Crying Eagle Brewing Company, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Crying Eagle Brewing Company, Lake Charles, Louisiana

They have had a few flavors take off and they can’t keep up with the demand. You can see their flavors in their web site. They have recently added a couple new tanks and will be adding a new location soon.
As they grow the Crying Eagle will soon start buying their grain in bulk. The grain bin pictured below is where it will be delivered and stored. Then it will be fed into the mill room where it will be ground up.

Boondocking on the beach, Brazoria County, Texas

Boondocking on the beach, Brazoria County, Texas

For the next few days, we are boondocking on the beach just south of Galveston, TX. Beautiful beaches, soothing ocean waves, unbelievable views, and it’s free. What more could you ask for? There are a few other campers here, but not many. The closest one is 100+ yards away.
