As I mentioned in our blog yesterday, we walked the San Antonio Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is a very beautiful two story walk along the Sam Antonio River. We were there on a Thursday afternoon in January, so it was not very crowded at all. The San Antonio Riverwalk has many restaurants and a few small craft and gift shops. Some of the restaurants included; Bubba Gumps, Dick’s Last Resort, The Rain Forrest Cafe, and Joe’s Crab Shack. But we have…
Monday we went to Waco, TX and visited Magnolia and Branding the Brazos. Magnolia is the Chip and Joanna Gaines empire from the TV show Fixer Upper. My impression is that it is a tourist trap for women. They had lots of household decorations, kitchen gadgets and other women’s entrapments. I am glad we now live in an RV so we don’t have room, or I know we would have been bringing something home. We ate breakfast at the Magnolia…
Today we did the tourist thing to do when you are in San Antonio, we got to Remember the Alamo and walk the San Antonio Riverwalk. This blog post will be about the Alamo. Tomorrow I’ll try to get a blog about the Riverwalk. We really enjoyed the Alamo. It is a very educational history lesson. One tip I want to give you if you plan to Remember the Alamo: It is FREE to tour. Our neighbors in our campground…
We have moved to the Dancing Bee Winery and Walker Honey Farm in Rogers, Texas. We are staying as their guests as members of Harvest Hosts. Harvest Host is a membership club that has a lot of wineries, breweries, farms, golf courses, etc. where you can boondock for free. Most of these places offer goods or services and when you boondock on their property, you are expected to buy something. The people here at the Dancing Bee Winery are super…
When people are spending a lot of money on an RV, they want to know what they are getting. So that is what I will be doing, giving them a report on the RV similar to a home inspection when you buy a house. Then they can make a good decision on whether to buy, negotiate a lower price, have the owner/dealer repair problems or walk away.
When people purchase there first RV, there are many systems in an RV that new owners do not know about; I can do a walk through with them to teach them how all these systems work.
Today I started my classes at the National RV Training Academy. The classes are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then there’s homework. So it doesn’t leave much time but I am enjoying the class. Some of it is pretty basic stuff I already know from owning a home built in 1906, and owning many old clunker cars and trucks over the years. An RV is kind of a combination of both, lots of maintenance. But, I found out…
Just a quick update for friends and family wanting to know where we are. Please share our blog if you know someone who might like it. We spent our first night in a Walmart parking lot in Pocahontas, Arkansas. It was a very busy and noisy parking lot but we still slept well. We were both very tired out from getting ready for our trip and planning our retirement party. Oh and in case you are wondering, Sherry’s dogs, Pebbles…
First of all we want to say a huge thank you to all of our family, friends, coworkers, and customers who came to our retirement party. It really means a lot to know how many great people we have in our life. Unfortunately we didn’t realize until the party was about 1/2 over that the sign in registry book got left in the van. So we don’t know how many people were there. We guesstimate there were between 125 and…
When you close the doors, one or both of the cables would get caught between the door and the jam preventing the doors from being latched. So we needed to come up with a simple solution for toy-haler cables.
